Say Goodbye to Your Favourite Devices? Here’s What You Need to Know Before July 2025

The Australian Government is introducing tougher laws on vape devices and accessories — and the changes are going to impact what you can buy, and when. If you're currently using a nicotine vape to support your quit journey, this is the time to pay attention.

What’s Changing – and When?

From 1 July 2025, only vape products — including devices, pods, and accessories — that meet new, stricter product standards will be allowed to be sold in Australia. This is part of a staged rollout by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to enhance safety, transparency, and medical oversight.

These changes include:

  • Plain packaging and simplified design rules
  • Mandatory info leaflets and clear instructions
  • Tighter technical and safety requirements for vape hardware
  • Stricter ingredient controls and volume limits for substances

Bottom line: If your current device doesn’t meet these new standards, you won’t be able to legally buy it — or even compatible accessories — after July.

Why Device Options Will Shrink

Because of the high cost of compliance and tight testing deadlines, most major brands are expected to register only one flagship device — if any. This means:

  • The device range in Australia will become extremely limited
  • Popular models and accessories may be discontinued entirely
  • If your go-to device doesn’t make the cut, you may need to switch

For many people, this could mean losing access to the specific vape setup that’s helped them quit smoking — a frustrating reality we want you to be prepared for.

What You Can Do Right Now

If you’ve found a device that works for you, especially for managing nicotine dependence or quitting smoking under medical guidance, now’s the time to stock up on:

  • Your preferred device
  • Compatible pods, coils, chargers, and accessories
  • Any spare parts to extend the life of your hardware

After July, many of these items may be unavailable or discontinued.

Tip: Speak with your healthcare provider about what's changing and how to transition smoothly if you’ll need to move to an approved device in the future.

Why This Matters

These new regulations aim to improve safety and reduce youth access to vaping — but they’ll also limit adult access to familiar tools that help manage nicotine withdrawal.

At Quit Hero, we’re here to guide you through these changes and support your journey — no matter what hardware is available. As always, we’ll be transparent, informed, and on your team.
